More Amber :D 128

This is an absolutely beautiful piece of Baltic Amber wrapped in 20 gauge square 14/20 Gold-Filled wire with a set of wire earrings and bracelet with Baltic Amber beads. This three piece set was made and given to a charity auction for a cancer patient to help with health care bills. I'll update when it sells to see what they get for it. Retail value of the set is $190.

Amber is fossilized pine tree sap, and belongs to the organic gemstones family. Although it is not truly a stone its still viewed as a semiprecious gem. True Amber can be picked out by its natural inclusions such as insects, bubbles and other naturally occurring substances caught in it, though clear Amber can also be found. True Amber when burnt smells of pine, while fake smells of plastic.

Gold-Filled Wire is not the same as Gold Plated. Gold Filled is an actual layer of gold, pressure bonded to a bass metal. Gold Filled have over 100% more gold than Gold Platting does. Gold Filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant than plated. Anyone who can wear Gold can wear Gold Filled without worries of allergic reactions to the jewelry.

In the notation 14/20 the 14 refers to the gold being 14k and the 20 refers to the law that to be labeled "Gold Filled" the weight of the wire has to be 1/20th gold.
