I really love this piece, I wish I could have gotten better pictures of it but it just didn't happen before it sold. I almost kept this one just because I loved it so much lol, but you can't run a business if you keep all the best pieces.

This is a gorgeous Geode slice wrapped in round Gold-Filled wire.

Pure quartz, traditionally called rock crystal (sometimes called clear quartz), is colorless and transparent (clear) or translucent. Quartz is a crystal Common colored varieties include citrine, rose quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz, milky quartz, and others. Quartz has a Trigonal crystal structure, containing four axes, three of which intersect to form a plane, intersected by the fourth. Impurities or disruptions during the formation process can form crystals that contain encrustations and or phantom crystals. Crystals can also form hexagonal prisms, twinning, or double terminations. They can show up in Geodes in any or all of the Quartz forms.

A quartz geode is such a situation where the void in which Quartz forms is approximately spherical in shape, lined with a bed of crystals pointing inward. Drusy Quartz is a term used for this type of Quartz grown in a spherical shape where the crystals are in their natural form, not cut or polished, but still grainy, or bladed and the grains and blades are still quite small.

Gold-Filled Wire is not the same as Gold Plated. Gold Filled is an actual layer of gold, pressure bonded to a bass metal. Gold Filled have over 100% more gold than Gold Platting does. Gold Filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant than plated. Anyone who can wear Gold can wear Gold Filled without worries of allergic reactions to the jewelry.

In the notation 14/20 the 14 refers to the gold being 14k and the 20 refers to the law that to be labeled "Gold Filled" the weight of the wire has to be 1/20th gold.
