This is a beautiful free form Larimar cabochon wrapped in 20 gauge, square, Argentium Sterling Silver.
I guess I've become a little addicted to wrapping Larimar, it is just such an interestingly patterned stone, I really love it.
Larimar is a semi-precious stone classified as a type of pectolite, the word pectolite come from the Greek words pektos (something formed by different parts) and lithos (rock). Although Larimar is only a semi-precious stone it can cost more than some precious stones because of its rarity. Larimar is only found in one place in the world, in the southern part of the Dominican Republic. Although there are pectolites all across the world, Larimar is distinguished by its blue to blue-green color with white veins through it. The is caused by the absorption of cobalt instead of calcium.
Argentium Sterling Silver is the highest quality of Sterling Silver available today and is highly tarnish resistant. Sterling Silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, Argentium is still the 92.5% silver but it replaces some of the copper with the element Germanium which gives it a higher tarnish resistance and less people are allergic to it than just normal Sterling Silver.

I think I could get addicted to larimar, too... I've been ogling it for months but haven't forked over the money yet. You've done right by this one for sure
Very nice design and great wire work. The only thing I might have done differently is to repeat the spiral design on the front top of the pendant. But I'm not a wire worker! It's really lovely.
Very beautiful... I am so gonna get some larimar cabs. Anyways, there's nothing wrong with being addicted to a stone, I think it happens to every wire wrapper at some point. I like the waves of wire near the bail hehe, very pretty piece.
Welcome! I got one cab (less than an inch long though) for $11 most (not including shipping) on amazon. I can't wait to see them in person! (But the really expensive ones are those ruby cabs I am dying to get... Pretty expensive for such a tiny stone.) And I can tell the larimars are gorgeous, you seem to like them very, very much! Can't blame you, stone addictions are hard to stop... Well for me hehe
