Freewill 243 by Zorias Freewill 243 by Zorias
Piece # 243 "Freewill"
A Zoria's Creation. Krista DeSelms © 2012

So after my last wrap, "Truly Blessed" I was so enamored with the garnet that I found another. This one is a lot less red, a deeper pink hue, but it is none the less beautiful. The lack of that dark red gave me the feeling it should be in silver and it turned out wonderfully. For sale on my website!

I think the more I take pictures of a certain type of stone the easier it gets, only had to take about 40 pictures to get a half dozen good ones this time, the last one took almost 100 pictures lol.

Garnet wrapped in round Argentium Sterling Silver wire.

Garnets are a very widely known gemstone. Most often a reddish brown color garnets are able to span almost any color when they absorb different materials. These stones are a very hard stone, meaning that it’s a great stone for jewelry as it can encounter and withstand a certain amount abuse. Garnets have been around and known to man-kind so long that they are even mentioned in the Bible when Noah uses a Garnet lantern to guide the arch. Garnets are generally hard to tell if they are authentic or not, but there are two ways you can check on your own. The first is to look at the garnet in natural and artificial light, the garnet should change color, either slightly or drastically. The other is not fool proof, but most garnets are somewhat magnetic, not all but most. So you can check if the garnet is magnetic.

ARGENTIUM® Sterling Silver is the highest quality of Sterling Silver available today and is highly tarnish resistant. Sterling Silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Argentium is actually 93.5% silver with the remaining 6.5% a mixture of Copper and the element Germanium which gives it a higher tarnish resistance and less people are allergic to it than normal Sterling Silver.

Zoria's is proudly registered as an Aregentium user.

ARGENTIUM® is a registered trademark of Argentium International Limited.

Yes, I do custom work.

very lovely, i like how it still looks delicate while it's clearly strong in holding the stone :)

Why thank you, I went for simple and delicate because of the size of the stone, it's quite small so a lot of wire work would have out shinned the stone.

Very beautiful piece! I love the sweep of wires and the stone is gorgeous. I wish I could find some garnet to wrap, but perhaps I'll get lucky and find some later on. :)

Thanks hun :) I had to search pretty hard to get the two garnets I've wrapped, they don't seem very prevalent. A lot of little ones are sold all over, but the ones large enough to wrap are hard to find.

I entirely agree. I've always wanted stones like sapphires, garnet, peridot large enough to wrap (none under my standard size of 10 mm) but they're seemingly impossible to find! It's frustrating. I won't stop looking though. Glad to see somebody has found one suitable for wire wrapping though! :)

It's indeed a beautiful pinkish colour. Also alot clearer than the other specimen you have. Lovely colour combo with the silver!
